Bare Escentuals Buxom Lip Gloss

Since I started this project with a mention of my love of lip gloss, I'd like to talk lip gloss. I generally go nowhere without some type of lip product handy. My absolute favorite lip gloss is another Bare Escentuals product - Buxom Big & Healthy Lip Polish. The Buxom line also has a full color lip gloss product, which I will discuss at another time. The one I'm talking about today is the original sheer Lip Polish.

Buxom is available on their website in 15 different colors, of which I have at least 10 different shades. The reasons this gloss rules are numerous. The colors are sheer with just enough shine to look like gloss, but not like Vaseline. They do have a tingly feeling that I love, but could be irritating to people with very sensitive skin. These glosses also have good staying power for a gloss without being sticky. If I don't eat or drink they last about 3 or 4 hours without a touch up, and even if I do drink something they hold up well. My favorite shades are Dolly for an everyday mauve, Bambi for a nice pink shade and Bianca for an excellent coral.

They also come in what B.E. calls the "Babes" and are a collection of 4 colors in shorter tubes. These are great for your party purse or pocket for evenings out. Sephora has a brand new Babes collection available that also comes with a new lip stick product, the Buxom Babes About Town collection. I have the Diamond Buxom Babes collection which is sparkly and great for fancy events, which is available at QVC.
Buxom Lip Gloss is available at various locations:
  • Sephora stores and online
  • Bare Escentuals boutiques and online
  • QVC online is showing Bare Escentuals this week Tuesday 9/29 and Wednesday 9/30

Bare Escentuals Foundation - MATTE

I thought I would start the reviews with a brand new Bare Escentuals product. I am a B.E. girl, and love many of their products. They recently released the Matte version of the product and I have to say, I LOVE it!

The new formula is Bismuth free, which is good for many who are sensitive to Bismuth. It is also formulated with their RareMinerals product, which is on my LOVE list as well. I promise to review it soon. So this new foundation is a combo of 2 great things, and it looks so smooth. For those of us who get oily by about 1pm, this is a great thing. It really holds back the shine. Nothing is perfect for me – I have to touch up in the afternoon, but I don’t feel slimy quite so early in the day with this foundation. It also feels great on the skin, almost soft. This foundation is rated an SPF 15, so you don’t have to worry much about incidental sun exposure like a long lunch on a sunny Colorado afternoon. Is it great for dry skin? Probably not, I’ve read folks discuss this on the BE Addicts forums. I don’t have dry skin so I can’t judge for you, but check out their forums for more insight. For a combo skin or oily skin girl, I think this is a great pickup and I will be using this regularly.

The colors are similar to their original formula shades, and I picked the Light for summer. I will probably have to grab another for winter in the Fairly Light. It also comes in the new colors like Golden Medium for those of you who are more of a yellow based medium tone than the original Medium Beige. Matching colors is tricky, so be sure you use the side of your cheek and not the back of your hand. One last cool thing about MATTE is the new packaging. People have been requesting a more "portable" sifter configuration, and you get it with this new packaging. Check out the sliding sifter cover, no more mineral leaks on trips!

  • You can find Bare Escentuals at their boutiques, and if you’re new to the product I recommend visiting them for their application lessons.
  • Sephora is another great place to shop. They have great sales teams to show you application and tips.
  • QVC has Bare Escentuals on this week Tuesday 9/29 and Wed 9/30. They have good deals on kits, so if you’re looking to try a few different things it’s a great place to buy.
Please let me know if you've tried it and liked it. If you have a question or request feel free to leave a comment.

Intro to Kimber's Beauty Corner

This is my very first blog post. I find myself wondering what I’m doing here, creating a blog about beauty products. What makes me think that I know beauty better than anyone else out there? The answer is that I don’t know better than anyone else.

What I do know is what I’m going to share with you. I’m going to tell you what I’ve tried, what has worked and what has not. I want to help you pick products without walking down the aisle at the beauty store with 10 primers in your basket not knowing what it’s supposed to do, let alone will it work for oily skin?

So how did I get here? I have purchased and tried 12 mascaras in the last 9 months, and only liked 3 of them. I think you should know about those three products and decide what is best for you. I think everyone should have a leg up when walking the aisles or shopping on line. A good consumer is one who has done their research. I have done research on everything I try. I read beauty forums and websites and enjoy it.

Makeup is relatively new to me; I wore pretty basic makeup in high school and almost none in college. This sounds like a stretch to anyone that knows me, because I went to high school in the 80’s and college in the early 90’s. But my makeup of choice in high school was navy liner and navy mascara, and in college was blush and clear mascara. In fact, I wore clear mascara until I turned 30 and realized this does nothing for my BLONDE eyelashes. So I started wearing dark gray mascara (still black averse at this point) and some compact foundation from L’Oreal. Two years ago I bought the Bare Escentuals starter kit from Sephora. I had to try something that might be able to balance oily t-zone with dry patches. Well, my skin cleared up and my face looked great. I walked in because it was the first Sephora to come to Colorado, and I was out of my favorite lip gloss (I’ve always loved lip gloss and I am still a huge lip gloss junkie) I’d last purchased in a Chicago store. I walked out fascinated and hooked on trying new products.

Thanks for stopping by, I hope you come back soon.
